During the International Workers' Day, also known as Labor Day, my mother planned a five-day trip to Dunhuang, a place I was eager to visit. Our journey began in Tulufan, where we admired the lush greenery and the tiny seeds that dotted the landscape, resembling the chubby faces of infants from a distance. After a brief stop in Shanshan, we stumbled upon a hill resembling the "Huoyanshan" described in the classic "Journey to the West." To our delight, it turned out to be the real Huoyanshan, so we purchased two tickets and promptly explored the site.
Upon entering the cave, we discovered a man-made "Huoyanshan" with several attractions. We explored the sites, including Gaochang City, qanat (tunnel), Grape Valley, and the ancient city of Jiaohe. Continuing our journey, we encountered the 40-meter-tall Jin Gu Bang, which was illuminated with red light in the middle. Standing before it, we gazed upwards, imagining the hatchet-wielding Monkey King. Inside, at the final staircase, we reached the peak of Huoyanshan. The images of the Monkey King and the scene where the Taishang Senior Dan was overthrown were strikingly realistic, as if they were brought to life.
Lucky for us, we arrived just as the sun was setting, painting the sky with a crimson hue, round and resplendent like a horizon. As the sun dipped below the horizon, leaving only half its disk visible, it gradually emerged from behind a cloud, creating a surreal scene that resembled the sun rising, captivating many onlookers.
After a day and a half of travel, we finally arrived in Dunhuang. Our plan was to visit the main tourist spots: Crescent Moon Spring, Movie and Television City, and the Western Mogao Grottoes. Our first stop was Crescent Moon Spring.
Why is it called Crescent Moon Spring? Legends say that the sand here is multi-colored—red, yellow, green, white, and black. This special sand, upon closer inspection, reveals thousands of tiny holes on each grain. It is said that this was once an ancient battlefield where soldiers were annihilated. The strong winds and flying sand created a scene of chaos, with the northerly wind wailing like the soldiers' cries. If you strike a board with a designated spot from the hills, you can hear a roar. This is how Crescent Moon Spring in Dunhuang got its name. After listening to the introduction, we began our exploration. First, we rode camels, which was an exciting experience as they carried us up the dunes. We also saw the camel's footprints etched in the sand, which was an unexpected sight. Finally, we arrived at Crescent Moon Spring, adjacent to an ancient temple where we could take turns using ancient cameras, providing photographers with a unique photo opportunity. It was fascinating!

I assume the reason it took so long to argue about this is that some people are eager for a long holiday, while others prefer to return home for traditional festivals to spend time with their family. So, which one do I prefer?

During the May Day holiday, my parents returned to the countryside. We drove out of the bustling city and onto a country road leading home.
A glance out the window revealed the countryside's beauty. The blue sky, white clouds, and flocks of birds flying in the sky created a picturesque scene. The fields were covered in a sea of green, extending as far as the eye could see.
Then I said, "Look, Dad, there are many onions in the field." "My silly child," Dad replied with a smile, "those are wheat sprouts." I noticed that the wheat had grown several battlements, resembling needles. I also saw large cauliflower-like plants in the fields, growing naturally and lying peacefully on the green "blanket," much like a mother cradling her adorable baby. The scene was vibrant, and the breeze blowing felt refreshing.

Today is May Day, and my parents took me to the麒麟山游乐园 to enjoy some fun.
At the foot of the mountain, vehicles were everywhere, and the crowd slowly made their way up the mountain, resembling swarms of black ants from a distance. At the entrance to the zoo, a long queue of people buying tickets formed, creating a lively atmosphere! We continued up the mountain and ran into three classmates.
At the amusement park, my dad and I were thrilled by the surfing and Crazy Mickey Mouse rides, which were truly exciting! Then, I went to play in the transparent water ball, where I squatted down inside a large transparent ball. An uncle pushed the ball hard into the water, and as it floated, I waddled and stood up, only to fall a few seconds later. It reminded me of a toddler learning to walk, causing the onlookers to burst into laughter. Later, I lazily lay in the ball, soaking in the sun, and as the ball bobbed in the water, I felt like a baby in a cradle, enjoying the fun!
This truly was a happy and memorable experience for the May Day holiday!
