There are more and more college graduates choose to continue their tertiary education nowadays. At their graduation, they take the entrance examinations for the postgraduate studies, and try to earn higher degrees. This situation has both its pros and cons.

The phenomenon that more students are willing to earn higher degrees is definitely a good sign for the economy and for the future of the country. Scientific and technological developments, social evolution, understandings towards nature and history are all progressing. They need people of deeper studies to carry further. Traditional ideas in many areas are becoming obsolete and the society wants fresh thoughts to remodel it, and make it a better environment for human beings. All these will be possible only based on further studies, researches and more specialized work, rather than relying on the basic disciplines of past knowledge.

On the other hand, it also reflects a trend in which the undergraduates have intense competition in the employment market. Increasing numbers of them are unable to find a job of their studies at the graduation, and have to give up what they have learned and go into other professions only to be surviving. This is a huge waste of the national education resources, particularly considering that four years ago these students took the positions in the colleges and deprived their competitors' chance of entering tertiary educations. No winners amongst them all, the colleges, the undergradtates, and those "failed" competitors, as the change into other areas happen.

One very likely scenario is that the problem of intense competition is to be deferred rather than solved, i.e. that it is carried onto the next level. If all the Bachelors are moving into master studies, then the job position competition may temporarily be calmed now, but start again in three years when they are graduating as Masters, or five years later as Doctors.

College students do find it difficult to decide what to do after their graduation. On my personal note, I hold the view that college students should begin their career after graduation. There are at least two good reasons accounting for my opinion. To begin with, if students choose to work after graduation, it is beneficial for them to develop practical skills and to accumulate valuable working experience, both which they can not learn from the textbooks.And it is useful for graduates to apply the knowledge to the actual work. In addition, there is a tendency that many graduates work hard after their graduation to repay their parents. In reality, if students choose to undertake postgraduate study, their parents will have more financial burden and students themselves may have more stress and anxiety, which is more trouble than it is worth.

In conclusion, personally I support the point of view that college students should choose to commit themselves to work after their graduation. On account of the financial conditions and fierce competition in this society, it is a good choice to find jobs to make a living. What is learnt from practical experience is far more significant and important than what is learnt from books. What employees emphasize is the capacity of employers rather than the superb certificates.

One of the most important problems junior students face is to decide what to do after graduation. It was indeed an annoying problem when it came to me. On one hand, it is common concept that getting a higher degree is the only and also the best way for rural children out of poverty and live a life different from our parents. There is a concept in Chinese people's mind that the higher education you get,he better life you will have in the future. As far as I am concerned, if I obtain a master's degree, I will be more competitive when applying a relative better job and get a better starting for my future career.

On the other hand, I chose GDUT as the institution where I undertake mypostgraduate study is that it is a leading academic institution and comprehensive esearch and development center in natural science, technological science andhigh-tech innovation in China. It is such an excellent place to do research work that my researching and working ability will be both improved to the most degree. Ibelieve that I will get a better scientific achievement at GDUT than those who just achieved in a general school without doubt.

In a word, it is out of question that I will learn a lot and widen my knowledg mechanical engineering of robot. As we know, robot will play an important part in future's life, and Guangzhou is one of the modernist and the most developed cities in the world,studying in GDUT is definitely the best choice in my lief.
